Susan Gibson is, and has, one of the strongest voices in our music scene.  Having penned one of the most widely known songs in music, Wide Open Spaces, cut by The Dixie Chicks, at age 21, her career could have peaked at an early age.  However, through her diligent work ethic, and a determination to produce meaningful songs, Susan has continually crafted her work with a uniqueness and determination many songwriters envy.  In this episode, listen as Susan gives the back story on where so many her post popular songs came from.

Radney Foster has long been heralded as one of Texas' finest songwriters.  Growing up in Del Rio, TX, Radney's love of music began at family bar-b-ques where guitars were passed from hand to hand and songs of all genres were shared to all who would listen.  Radney tended that early flame and began his expansive career while attending college about ninety minutes from Nashville.  Radney has had many national chart hits for major artists from Keith Urban to Sara Evans, but you might be surprised how many songs from the Texas music scene Radney has penned or had a hand in penning.  Radney sits down with The Co-Write to discuss those early days, his entry into the new-age Texas music genre & his newest project, "For You to See the Stars", which is a combination record and book of short stories.

Prior to the Radney interview, the fellas discuss an unlikely friend of Donovan's who has a shot to become a world champion.  They also discuss the untimely passing of Tom Petty, and BRUCE TALK!

Wade Bowen has been a dominate force on the Texas music scene since it caught fire in the early 2000's.  Beginning his journey in Lubbock, TX, Wade used the momentum carried from building a large following in a college town to make what would become his first hit record, The Blue Light Live.  Although the road is never easy, Bowen continue to push towards his goal of being a career musician, and after a few years of searching while scraping every dollar together he could, Bowen began an incredible streak of successful projects.  Beginning with Lost Hotel, Bowen's streak of albums, including If We Ever Make It Home, The Given, Wade Bowen & a soon to be released, Keith Gattis produced album, could arguably be one of the most solid runs of releases this genre has ever seen.  Listen to Bowen take a turn with The Co-Write to discuss his career from the early days to the present, and how he desires to continue to push the boundaries even further.

Josh Abbott has had one of the fastest rises to the A-list in Texas music history.  Since the beginning of his meteoric rise, Josh has been somewhat of a polarizing force for fans and musicians alike.  However you feel, Josh is firmly fixated at the top of the Texas music pecking order, and has no plans of ceding that position.  This week on The Co-Write, Josh sits down with the boys to discuss everything from where his musical journey began, to what launched his rise and how he continually tests the limits of his music both sonically and lyrically.  Josh's latest release, "Until My Voice Goes Out", debuted at #1 on the iTunes music chart, establishing him as a growing force nationally, and one of Texas' biggest acts.

The Co-Write is on the road!  This past weekend we headed southward for New Braunfels and River Road Ice House to talk with the artists playing Galleywinter's first River Jam.  Recently rebranded, River Jam is in it's 16th year as the marquee event of the year for the Gallywinter website, and managing editor of Galleywinter, Brad Beheler, gives us a brief history of this event right off the bat.  At (33:00), we had the pleasure of talking with Haley Cole.  This extremely talented singer/songwriter shares her story of moving to Nashville, and back to Texas, as well as what the future might hold.  Then at (53:30) Matt Boggs from Prophets & Outlaws takes a seat with the boys and fills us in on what is happening with them.

Steve Helms is a music lifer.  The son of legendary D/FW musician, Leon Helms, Steve walked in his father's boot steps from an early age.  Playing in house bands at an early age, Steve honed his craft, and used those early lessons throughout a career that has spanned nearly 4 decades, and he's only 50.  This week on The Co-Write Steve Helms tells us of those early days in the D/FW house band circuit, his departure from the local music scene, his return, a brief stint in Brett Michaels' band, and his burgeoning solo career that leads to a new album to be released in early 2018.

The Co-Write is back this week with Episode 27.  The boys discuss two recent concerts they attended as well as the differences with both venues.  A recent Fort Worth Weekly article was released and it is causing quite the storm.  The boys discuss the article and it's relevance.  Taylor Swift released her entire catalogue back on streaming services, and the timing is rather suspicious. Bruce Springsteen announced he is all set to host an 8 week residency on Broadway, and the boys discuss whether they could attend a show without losing their respective significant others.

There are few torch bearers of modern Texas music who can say they've been around since the dawn of the scene.  Even fewer can claim to have made as large of an impact as Justin Frazell.  From his early days as the morning traffic reporter on KPLX 99.5 The Wolf, to the spawning of his own Texas music centric "Front Porch Show", Justin became a 100,000 watt vocal force for many then upstart, but fast growing acts.  Since those early days, Justin continues to be one of Texas music's greatest champions.  Whether it's hosting his nationally syndicated Texas Red Dirt Roads show every Sunday, being the program director for the very successful KFWR 95.9 The Ranch, or hosting his annual Pickin' for Preemies charity bash, Justin's overwhelming influence on this scene continues to be felt.

*NOTE* - We recorded this week using a new software, and it seems to have glitches out on us around the 4:00 mark.  It is prevalent for about a minute and a half, but then clears up the rest of the way.  WE APOLOGIZE FOR THIS INCONVENIENCE AND HAVE DESTROYED SAID AUDIO RECORDING DEVICE FOR IT'S LACK OF COOPERATION.        ENJOY ...

Hey kids!  The Co-write is back this week touching all of your favorite pop culture & Texas music areas ... at (13:00) Bobby and Donovan do a  quick review of the Academy Awards.  Then at (19:00) they talk Dirk Nowitzki reaching the 30k point mark, which turns into a sports Mt. Rushmore discussion.  The pod closes out with a discussion on the recent social media meltdown regarding 95.9 The Ranch, which begins at (28:15).

Bobby and Donovan bring you a look back at the first season of The Co-Write.  The boys lay out their plan for the podcast moving forward, as well as share some of their favorite moments from the past year.  After a year where so many meaningful artists passed away, the two review their very first topic, five artists you want to see before they die.  Next, they rehash their most downloaded topic which involved a now notorious comment from Granger Smith.  Lastly, a look back at their most memorable trip to see Bruce Springsteen in New Jersey.  Thank you for the first year of The Co-Write!  We hope you enjoy all we bring you in 2017!
